About Us

When I was in my early teens ( a long time ago ) I would go into music shops and stare in awe at the gleaming drumkits on display. In those days there weren’t any specialist drum shops so drums were surrounded by guitars, keyboards, brass instruments etc. I had a dream that one day I would have my own shop, but as I didn’t know enough about the other instruments, I would have a drums only shop. At the time this was pretty radical thinking and it was to be many years before the dream could become a reality.

As a gigging drummer myself, I was frustrated by the lack of a shop that had A) what I needed and B) staff who could be bothered to get off their backside and help. So it was then, that in 1986 I took the plunge and ‘The Drum Centre’ ( not an entirely original name I admit, but it describes what we do ) opened it’s doors for the first time, occupying a tiny shop on Liverpool Road, Eccles.

The emphasis right from the start was on customer service and we never had, nor ever will have any high pressure sales people here. We prefer to be regarded as sales advisors. We’ll give you all the information you need to enable you to make an informed decision on the right equipment for you in terms of quality, suitability and price.

We’ve moved twice in the last 20 years but are still only a few hundred yards from where it all began and now occupy over 5000 square feet of showroom and warehouse area. We couldn’t have grown to this extent without the loyalty of thousands of satisfied customers over the years and we sincerely thank you for that.

Now we’re looking forward to the next 20 years of serving drummers young and old and at whatever level of ability
